NO DIGITAL MODES ALLOWED!

All operations are using my Elecraft K3 running 100 watts.

The antennas are:

#1 an 80 meter full size OCF

#2 is a custom windom at 80'

IMPORTANT!

If you are working ANY station, when giving your call sign you MUST give credit to this station.

Example: “This is [your call] via the W6SFG Remote”

It is my opinion that it is not fair to the DX station, for them to think you are operating direct from your own station..

If I hear you working DX stations without giving credit for this remote or for that matter hear any profanity or disrespectful or illegal behavior, I will remove your transmit privileges.

Your First Time on my remote?

Things that you should always do when connecting to my remote:

Click the ASK button and wait at least 15 seconds.

Choose the band you wish to use.

Always hit TUNE when changing frequencies or before you transmit.

When you transmit voice, watch the audio stream at the top of the client. Set your mic level to only occasionally show color there. If you see orange or red colors, you are over-driving the audio. If you do not see any color ever, your mic may be set too low.

Use the MIC slider at the top of your client to adjust the level. HINT: once you have moved it with the mouse, you can fine-adjust it with the mouse roller while resting on the slider.

If you are familiar with how to use the client already, here are some tips to make your operating more enjoyable:

When using NR, you can adjust the “Filter Width” (slider) to roll off the highs if you have adjacent frequency interference.

Feel free to use the other buttons and sliders as needed.

You may also find the Number Pad on the left side of the display helpful in quickly changing frequency.

Remember the Memories tab has two settings. #1. are presets placed there by the Administrator. All you need to do to change frequency & Mode is to simply choose the memory and double click to instantly change frequency.

#2. is the LOCAL settings that you may program to suit your needs.

Always remember to go to the WINDOWS TAB and save your DEFAULT changes.

Buttons and Sliders on W6SFG Remote

NR	Noise Reduction (DSP)
NOTCH	Auto Notch Filter (will cancel up to 2 tones automatically)
A/B	Main versus Sub VFO (used to toggle between them)
A>B	Will make VFO “B” equal to VFO “A”.
TUNE	Operates K3 antenna tuner
TEST	When selected, TXd will allow you to “intercom” with others logged in WITHOUT transmitting on the air.
TX	Transmit button.
PRE	Preamp Use with care!
ATT	Attenuator (drop-down)=(should use this on 80M at night)
RIT ATU &PWR	DO NOT attempt to use the ATU, RIT or POWER buttons. They are there for the use of the station SYSOP/Adiminstrator only.
BND+

BND_used for incrimenting up &down through the BANDS

IMPORTANT:

When reconfiguring your preferred screen layout ALWAYS click “Save Layout” when you are satisfied with it.

Today, I have 155 users on my W6SFG Remote via Remotehams.com. The RCFORB software has changed the world of remote operating for a majority of hams who are unable to have their own station setup, perhaps due to HOA restrictions or travel or apartment living, etc.

By just going to http://remotehams.com and signing up for FREE, and downloading their Client software (RCForb.exe) anyone can use a remote station such as mine. If you are a licensed Ham you can obtain transmit (and other control) privileges.
